[Fragile Structure]

Ledongil Workshop’s solo exhibition posits “Fragile Structure” as a design methodology that considers imperfection and instability as existential conditions of things, a notion which the designer has been exploring since 2022. It is also an attempt to question the relationship between the self and the world by contemplating the vulnerability of existence the designer has experienced in his own life. Incomplete things, both structural and material, seem to reveal their potential precisely because they remain fragile.
This exhibition centers on three installation works that are variations of the LWL series, in which fragile metal structures support one another to exist as a single entity. These are joined by Functional Object works that expose the raw characteristics of materials such as solid metal, raw stone, and chunks of glass to construct the space. While elaborately crafted, these Functional Objects do not conceal the structural characteristics and material flaws, reflecting the conflict between utility, rationality, and subjective expression.
Alongside the works, a reading room will be established to introduce the first book in a series co-developed with the curatorial studio ANNEX. Furthermore, a fragrance specifically designed for “Fragile Structure” will fill the space, providing a multi-layered experience for visitors.

2026년 4월 애니 우 갤러리(Anni Wu Gallery, 밀라노, 이탈리아)에서 열리는 개인전 ⟪Fragile Structure⟫는 르동일이 2022년부터 연구해온 ‘연약한 구조’를 중심에 둔다. ‘연약한 구조’는 ‘불완전함’과 ‘불안정함’을 사물의 실존적 조건으로 바라보는 디자인 방법론이다. 또한 르동일이 자신의 삶 속에서 경험한 ‘존재의 취약성’에 대해 질문하며 사물을 통해 자기 자신과 세계의 관계를 탐구하는 시도이기도 하다. 구조적·물질적으로 불완전한 대상들은 ‘연약한 구조’를 통해 잠재성을 드러낸다.
⟪Fragile Structure⟫는 르동일이 탐구해온 디자인 개념을 종합적으로 보여주는 전시로, 얇은 금속 구조가 서로를 지지하며 하나의 개체로 성립하는 LWL 시리즈의 기존 방식을 변주한 세 점의 설치 작품을 중심으로 구성된다. 여기에 솔리드 금속, 돌 원석, 덩어리 유리 등 원자재의 특성이 그대로 드러나는 ‘기능적 오브제’ 작품들이 더해져 공간을 형성한다. 재료의 물성, 구조적 특성, 물질적 결함을 감추지 않으면서도 정교하게 가공된 ‘기능적 오브제’들은 실용성, 합리성과 자아 표현 사이의 충돌을 반영한다.
이와 더불어 서울 기반의 큐레토리얼 스튜디오 아넥스(ANNEX)와 함께 기획한 출판물 시리즈의 첫 번째 책을 소개하는 리딩룸이 마련되며, 첫 번째 연구 주제인 ‘연약한 구조’를 위해 특별 제작한 인센스 향이 공간을 채우며 다층적인 경험을 제공한다.
